It is expected that microvascular blood flow might be affected by blood glucose, blood insulin and C-peptide levels. In our investigation skin microvascular blood flow (LDF) was measured using laser doppler fluxometry at skin temperatures of 37 degrees C and 44 degrees C during a 75 g oral glucose load (OGT) or water in ten healthy volunteers (6 male, 4 female, age: 28.1+/-4.0) who had fasted overnight. Increased C3 has been related to body mass index (BMI) and insulin resistance, although there are not sufficient studies in subjects with morbid obesity. Glycated serum proteins and glucose tolerance

Glycated serum proteins (GSP), stable glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) together with some metabolic parameters were evaluated in 120 subjects, 30 with normal glucose tolerance (NGT), 30 with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), 30 with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDD), and 30 with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDD). GSP levels were significantly higher in IGT, NIDD and IDD than in NGT. HbA1c levels were not significantly higher in IGT in comparison with NGT, but were significantly higher in NIDD and in IDD than in NGT and IGT. We studied whether persistent physical activity compared with inactivity has a global effect on serum metabolome toward reduced cardiometabolic disease risk. To investigate whether the response of salt-regulating hormones to volume expansion is impaired in obese subjects, we assessed the effects of saline load (0.25 mL/kg.min.120 min) in 9 young, healthy, normotensive obese subjects (body mass index, &gt; 30 kg/m2) and in 10 lean control subjects (body mass index, &lt; 25 kg/m2) matched for age, gender, height, and mean blood pressure.
